PERRY, THAILAND: Studies show that children who grow up in orphanages often struggle to adjust to community life when they leave and have excessively high rates of suicide, drug addiction, incarceration rates and prostitution. Scientific studies show that kids' physical and social development is negatively affected by living in institutionalised care. More than 90% of children living in orphanages have living parents. Tim and Bronwyn Perry work with an organisation called Step Ahead, who has responsibility for 143 kids aged 0-6 from four orphanages. As they partner with Thailand's Department of Children and Youth, the Perrys invite you to support their expert team in training local workers to transition each one into a safe and loving family. The two aspects of this training include deinstiutionalisation training and Trauma-Informed Care training. These trainings cost $2,200 to run, and the Perry's will be facilitating both these training four times. The total cost ($8,800) is partially supplemented through some external fundraising; the Perry's require support of $3,000 to complete this project.
The Perry's need $3,000.00 to facilitate trainings.
